| The 2010 Pure Austin Pace Bend Road Race will be better than ever this year, brought to you by Team Hotel San Jose and Team Geri Atrix. We've taken the classic Texas Hill Country road race venue, built upon the success of last year by adding many of your inputs and suggestions, included a little creativity of our own, put in a lot of hard work, and have created a racing event that you are not going to want to miss. As always we will have the entire road for shoulder-to-shoulder racing on the ten kilometer hilly circuit. Get that - no centerline rule. Races that have been grouped in wave starts by like skill-set will go clockwise with an uphill finish near Camp Chautauqua. The Camp, by the way, is a great part of the event venue - thanks to Travis County Parks and the LCRA. All race and spectator traffic will be routed just before the main Park entrance into the Camp for easy, convenient, and orderly parking in this former RV campground. That means that there will be no event transit traffic on the road that we will race on. There is a staging area off the race course so we can queue up for a start without impeding races that may be on the course at the time. The feed zone will be on a long, wide, flat stretch of the road near Highland Lakes Baptist Encampment, well away from the finish line and the staging area. In addition to parking inside the Camp, we'll be logistically well situated for awards, packet pick-up, and day-of registration. We'll have a concessions area that is going to be way over-the-top compared to any other race in the state. Austin Sports Therapy will be providing free ART treatments. Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop will be there to provide neutral mechanic support. And North-by-Northwest Restaurant and Brewery will be onsite to provide great food at a reasonable price. So get your race on, toe-the-line to see if you've got what it takes to stack up some early State Cup points, race against the best on the one of the few open road race courses in the state, and chillax watching the other races in a spectator friendly venue while feasting on great chow from one of Austin's best restaurants. See y'all there... |
